Unified Sports Program at Mayfair Middle/High School

Congratulations to the Unified Sports program at Mayfair Middle High School. The program led by Lindsey Hutton, Education Specialist, Kristina Robertson, Adaptive Physical Education Teacher, and Anne-Marie Sharp, Adaptive Physical Education teacher is the recipient of California’s leading educational honor, the Golden Bell Award. The Golden Bell Awards are presented by the California School Boards Association (CSBA) to promote excellence in public education and school board governance by recognizing outstanding programs and governance practices. Bellflower Unified School District believes that “positive relationships and strong sense of community connect students to learning,” which is evident in its mission to empower students to “demonstrate respect for themselves and others in a dynamic, diverse, and global society.” Unified Sports is an innovative program that exemplifies this mission as its goal is to promote inclusion and acceptance by providing students opportunities to “train together and play together” in team sports. Students participate in competition in areas including basketball, cheerleading and track. Congratulations to Mayfair’s Unified Sports program for receiving the Golden Bell Award.
