Multilingual Services (EL & Dual Immersion)
Our purpose is to live out the mission of Bellflower Unified School District and create learning conditions where English Learners, including students in our Dual Language Immersion program have equitable access to challenging core curriculum that fosters their academic potential.
Our objective is for all English Learners to acquire academic English language rapidly and effectively, reclassify as Fluent English Proficient and become ready for college or career in an environment that values their cultural and linguistic assets.
BUSD’s Dual Language Immersion Program is designed with a 90/10 language acquisition model, uses the California content standards, and is taught by highly qualified bilingual teachers with the goal of students developing bilingual and biliterate skills in English and Spanish. Through continuous reflection, refinement, and collaboration with the dual language community, the program strives to meet the goals of bilingualism, biliteracy, and cross-cultural competencies.
To support families with the Dual Immersion application process, the window for completing the intent to enroll online application has been extended and scheduled earlier in the year so that families will receive information regarding acceptance prior to Open enrollment in February.
