The Student Leadership Club is a voluntary program designed for 4th-6th grade students. Interested students apply at the beginning of the school year to be part of the club, and based on their academic and behavior performance, their teachers have the tough decision of selecting a few qualifying students.
Organized and facilitated by our school counselor, the Student Leadership Club takes part and leads numerous school activities such as: morning flag salute, school pledge reading, weekly SOAR inspired readings, Student of the Month assembly, and assisting in school-wide events (Special Olympics, Holiday Food Drives, retirement Valentine Day card delivery, etc.). Members of Student Leadership also act as role models by displaying expected behaviors and serving as conflict mediators during recess.
Student Leaders take pride in the student-led club. During our bi-weekly meetings, students brainstorm ideas on how they can make their school environment positive and inspirational to others, as they SOAR both inside and outside of the classroom!
The Student Leadership Club is a great launching pad for students who are natural leaders. Our hope is they will continue practicing their leadership skills in the Associated Student Body (ASB) clubs at the middle school and high school levels.
We’re going on four years now! Initially established during the 2015-2016 school year, the demand and excitement to continue the club grows every year. I am extremely honored to be leading such a wonderful group of enthusiastic leaders!
