Preschool Program

Children playing with water toys

Bellflower Unified’s Special Education Preschool provides a continuum of high‑quality early intervention services tailored to each child’s needs through the Individualized Education Program (IEP). Our language‑rich, play‑based classrooms support early academic, social‑emotional, and communication growth so children of all abilities are ready for kindergarten.

Who We Serve

  • Children ages 3–5 who have or may have disabilities and are not yet eligible for kindergarten.
  • Students identified through the IEP process as needing special education and related services.
  • Families transitioning from Early Start/Part C services (with transition planning beginning prior to age 3).

What Makes Our Program Unique

  • Individualized education grounded in the IEP.

  • Inclusive, developmentally appropriate practices with opportunities to learn alongside same‑age peers.

  • Small class sizes with multiple adults for targeted support.
  • Evidence‑based instruction aligned to the California Preschool Learning Foundations and a state‑adopted curriculum.
  • Ongoing progress monitoring and data‑informed adjustments.
