Alternative Dispute Resolution
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is an informal process for resolving special education disagreements in a respectful, neutral setting. While issues are best addressed through the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process, an ADR session may be effective when efforts to resolve disputes within the IEP team have been exhausted. The goal of ADR is for families and districts to work together to create solutions that benefit the student. The Mid-Cities SELPA retains an expert consultant to help facilitate IEPs or conduct ADR meetings when all parties voluntarily agree.
