Secondary Education

Bellflower Unified School District’s Secondary Education team supports students, families, teachers, and administrators in grades 7 through 12. Our goal is to provide every learner with engaging academics, meaningful experiences, and the guidance needed to thrive in college, career, and life.

Across our middle and high schools, students find rigorous coursework, real world learning, and caring support systems that help them grow as scholars, leaders, and citizens.

1. College and Career Readiness 
  Planning, exploration, advising, and opportunities that help students map a pathway to their future.

2. AVID 
  Research based strategies, tutorials, and a schoolwide focus on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading.

3. Career Technical Education 
  Pathways that connect classroom learning with industry skills and authentic projects.

4. Dual Enrollment and Early College 
  Opportunities to earn college credit while in high school through approved college courses.

5. California Colleges Guidance Initiative 
  Tools that support academic planning, applications, and long term goal setting.

6. Curriculum and Learning Materials 
  High quality resources aligned to standards for all content areas and levels.

7. Field Learning Experiences 
  Learning that extends beyond the classroom through visits, events, and community partnerships.

8. Professional Learning 
  Ongoing training and collaboration for teachers and site leaders to strengthen instruction.

9. Summer School 
  Options for acceleration, enrichment, and credit recovery at the secondary level.

10. Edgenuity Credit Recovery 
  Program guidance and support to help students get back on track for graduation.

11. State Seal Certification 
  Support for students pursuing state recognitions and seals.

12. High School Athletics 
  Comprehensive sports programs that build teamwork, resilience, and school pride.

13. California Healthy Youth Act 
  High quality health education and full compliance with state requirements.

Middle School Focus

Students explore interests, build strong study habits, and develop essential skills in literacy, numeracy, collaboration, and problem solving. We prioritize a sense of belonging and a smooth transition to high school.


High School Focus

Students engage in rigorous academics, specialized pathways, and expanded supports that prepare them for college and career. Counselors, teachers, and program staff work together to ensure each student has a personalized plan and the resources to succeed.
