Instructions for Accessing Student Score Reports in Parent Portal

First you need to set up a Parent Portal Account. Click here to access instructions for setting up your Parent Portal account. Once you have set up your account, you can access Parent Portal through the URL https://parentportal.busd.k12.ca.us. Alternatively, you can also download the Aeries Parent Portal App for your phone.

Once your account is set up and you are logged in, click on Test Scores in the navigation menu at the top, then select State Test Scores Reports.

The State Electronic Test Scores Reports page will open, and score reports will be listed as seen below.

Score reports will only be available for 30 minutes. After that, the link will expire, and a new link will need to be requested by clicking on the "here" link in the blue information box.

California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)

There are many ways to measure your student’s learning. Your student’s teacher uses report card grades, classroom work, teacher observations, and end-of-the year statewide test results to get a complete picture of your student’s learning. Students in grades 3-8 and 11 take the Smarter Balanced summative assessments (SBAC) in English language arts and math. Tests are taken in the spring and results are made available soon after for families to be able support learning in the home. A Parent’s Guide to Understanding provides additional information in multiple languages about the structure of the test and resources to prepare for testing.

Understanding Your Student’s Score Report

Starting with the results from the 2025-26 CAASPP Summative Assessments, California will begin using new reporting achievement level descriptors and labels for the Smarter Balanced English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics assessments as well as the California Science Test (CAST).

The new labels help clarify the misconception that students who score below Level 3 are “below grade level.” All of the assessment items measure grade-level standards. However, student performance at the various levels demonstrates knowledge and skills at increasing degrees of complexity and sophistication.
