Lisa Azevedo, Interim Superintendent
Bellflower Unified School District Community,
I am honored to serve you as the newly appointed Interim Superintendent of Bellflower Unified School District. Change, although often challenging, is an essential part of growth. I recognize that transitions can be difficult, and I want to assure you that my commitment lies in supporting our district during this period of change. Together, we will navigate forward, in one direction, ensuring that our focus remains on the well-being and success of our students.
My journey within the district began in 1994 as a middle school math/science teacher at Mayfair Middle School. I have had the privilege of serving in various capacities, including Elementary Assistant Principal, Principal at Ernie Pyle Elementary, and Principal at Mayfair High School. Additionally, I held the position of Assistant Superintendent overseeing Instructional Personnel and Programs, Student Support Services, State and Federal Programs, and Special Education. Most recently, I served as the Chief Executive Officer of California Advancing Pathways for Students (CalAPS), a career technology education (CTE) program, that provides courses to students in Bellflower, Lynwood and Paramount Unified School Districts.
As we continue to move forward, I am committed to fostering a culture of teamwork and trust. My goal will be to listen deeply and collaborate with our teachers, classified staff, administration and school board to ensure the stability of Bellflower Unified School District for many years to come.
I believe in the strength, determination and commitment of our teachers, support staff and administration. I know that trusting relationships and collaboration provide our students excellent education and innovative opportunities. I am confident that we will work together to continue to move the district forward, ensuring that we meet the needs of our students in a safe and academically relevant environment. I believe that, together, we will uphold Bellflower Unified School District’s core values of equity, achievement, and community in actions taken to prepare our students for life beyond our programs.
Sincerely,
Lisa Azevedo
