Hello Pyle Families,
We hope you are enjoying your summer and are getting ready for a great year of learning at Ernie Pyle. School will begin on Thursday, August 10th at 8:20 am. Our first day of school is a shortened day and students will be dismissed at 1:26 pm. Please be sure to let your student know if you will be picking them up in the front of school off Woodruff Avenue, or in the back of the school off McNab so they know where to go after school.
First day of school: Students in grades 1-6, or a kindergarten student with an older sibling to escort them, may come on campus for breakfast through the front or back gate at 7:45 am and all students not eating school breakfast may enter at 8:05 am. School will start at 8:20 am and end at 1:26 pm. Kindergarten students coming to school without an older sibling must enter through the front gate. Lunch is free to any student who wishes to have a school lunch. Families are welcome to send healthy snacks or lunches with their students as well. Students may only come to the breakfast service if they are eating the free cafeteria breakfast.
Ernie Pyle is a uniform school. Please see page 10 of our handbook to see the full Uniform Policy.
Data Confirmation is now available! Each year every student needs to have their health and emergency contact information updated. Please be sure to log into your parent portal account to complete data confirmation for your student so that you can share the most up-to-date information with us. August 9th you will be able to log into your parent portal account if data confirmation has been completed to view the name of your student's teacher and where they will need to go on the first day of school. Students in grades 1-6 will meet their teacher on the big playground and students in Tk or Kindergarten will meet their teachers in the kindergarten playground. Our PTA is ready for a great year. Spirit wear will be going on sale on August 10. PTA will be hosting a meet and greet in the cafeteria at 8:30 on August 10 for all parents who would like to meet them, hear about the amazing plans for the year, and to see how you can get involved. We encourage all families to join PTA. We welcome PTA volunteers but even if you are not able to volunteer everyone can join. Please see the Newsletter for more details.
Our Office is currently closed for the summer but if you need to contact us you can email EPprincipal@busd.k12.ca.us or call 562-804-6528 and leave a message and we will return the message upon our return in August. If you need to register a student you can go on ErniePyleElementary.org and select the Registration tab at the top so that you can begin the process.
