Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten Dual Language Immersion Enrollment Information for 2023-2024
BUSD’s Dual Language Immersion Program is designed with a 90/10 language acquisition model, uses the California content standards, and is taught by highly qualified bilingual teachers with the goal of students developing bilingual and biliterate skills in English and Spanish. Through continuous reflection, refinement, and collaboration with the dual language community, the program strives to meet the goals of bilingualism, biliteracy, and cross-cultural competencies.

We are pleased to announce that for the 2023-2024 school year, Dual Immersion Transitional Kindergarten will be offered at the Intensive Learning Center and Washington Elementary. Class offerings are subject to change based on enrollment.
Applications will be accepted online February 6 – February 21, 2023.
To apply and enroll your Dual Immersion transitional kindergartner or kindergartener in the Dual Language Immersion Program, please follow the application and enrollment process below:
BUSD Resident District Applicants
1. Complete Online Registration (Aeries New Student Enrollment)
2. Complete the Dual Immersion Program Application
3. Parents will be notified by mail of their child’s status for the Dual Language Immersion Program by March 13, 2023.
Non-Resident District Applicants
1. Complete the Dual Immersion Program Application
2. Parents will be notified by mail of their child’s status for the Dual Language Immersion Program by March 13, 2023.
3. If your child is accepted to the Dual Immersion Program, complete the inter-district permit process with your District of Residence. Submit the approved permit to the Child Welfare and Attendance Office.
4. Upon permit acceptance, you must complete the Online Registration process through Aeries.
Please note that a student identified as Spanish-speaking on the Dual Language Immersion application will be assessed. You will be contacted to make an appointment.
BUSD offers the Dual Language Immersion Program at Washington Elementary and Intensive Learning Center (ILC).

Applications for Dual Immersion Transitional Kindergarten and Dual Immersion Kindergarten enrollment in the 2023-2024 Dual Language Immersion Program will be available and accepted from February 6, 2023 through February 21, 2023 by 4:00 PM. Students turning 5 on or before September 1, 2023 are eligible to apply for the Dual Immersion Kindergarten program. Students turning 5 between September 2, 2023 and April 2, 2024 are eligible for the Dual Immersion Transitional Kindergarten program.
Students currently enrolled in BUSD’s Preschool Dual Language Immersion Program will be given priority enrollment into the Dual Language Immersion Program if they are residents of BUSD. Students residing within the Bellflower Unified School District will be enrolled prior to students residing outside of the District for enrollment in the Dual Language Immersion Program.
Parents will be informed of the student's application status by March 13, 2023. Applications submitted after February 21, 2023 will be considered for enrollment if the Dual Language Immersion Program has openings.
Please note that in addition to completing the online BUSD student registration, parents desiring to apply for their student to enroll in the Dual Language Immersion Program must complete the Dual Immersion Program Application.
