BUSD News - Superintendent's Update February 18, 2021
Dear BUSD Parents,
We thank you for completing the Return to School survey. The information you provided allowed us to design a few models for in person instruction that meets the needs of the community.
We are now at the point where we need commitment from our elementary families on the return to in-person instruction. In the coming days, our elementary principals will be working with their school community to confirm families' decisions about remaining on distance learning or returning to in-person learning through a hybrid program. Families will be asked to make a commitment by Friday, February 26, 2021. Once families make a decision they will remain in that program for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. This decision does not impact your decision for the 2021-2022 school year. The confirmation will allow us to continue working with our staff to determine a start date and continue working on the multiple steps needed to reopen which includes consulting with our staff.
I am providing you a video English and Spanish to preview what we have done to prepare for the reopening and what the expectations will be for students and staff. While this is a global video, our principals will be following up with informational meetings for parents in which more specific information to your child’s school will be reviewed once a reopening date is determined.
It is also important to note that protocols and guidance are updated regularly and as a District we will continue to comply and make adjustments based on the changes.
Finally, our COVID-19 Safety Plan which is posted on our website is being submitted to the State School Safety Team and our Local Health Officer for opening approval.
Unfortunately our 7-12 grade students are not able to return to in-person instruction at this time. However, we will continue to prepare and work on opportunities for them to receive in person support when possible.
Thank you for the support and grace you have shown during these challenging times.
Stay Safe and Healthy.
