Mid-Cities Special Education Local Plan Area
Welcome to Mid-Cities Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA). The Mid-Cities SELPA is composed of three (3) Local Educational Agencies (LEAs). Member LEAs include: Bellflower Unified School District, Lynwood Unified School District, and Paramount Unified School District.

What is a SELPA?
Special Education Local Plan Areas (SELPA) is a group of Local Education Agencies (LEA) that join together to pool resources to meet the legal requirements of Special Education and to ensure high quality programs and services for students with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Child Find Educational Services are Available for Individuals with Disabilities, Birth Through 22 Years of Age.
Parents or community members within the Mid-Cities SELPA boundaries who suspect a child (birth to age 22) has special needs are encouraged to contact the special education department in their local school district office.
All SELPAs within Los Angeles County, known as the Greater Los Angeles Area SELPAs (GLAAS), have a local agreement pertaining to students with or suspected of disabilities parentally placed in private schools. Parents whose children attend a private school located within Los Angeles County boundaries who suspect their child has special needs are encouraged to contact the special education department in their school district of residence. Parents who reside outside of Los Angeles County whose children attend private schools within the Mid-Cities SELPA who suspect their child has special needs are encouraged to contact the special education department of the district where the private school is located.
