Open to grades 9-12
This course prepares students to understand the scientific principles of nutrition, their relationship of nutrition to health and well-being and careers related to food and nutrition. Instruction includes nutrition and health, safety and emergencies, food safety and sanitation, meal management, food purchasing and food preparation. Students will demonstrate the ability to prepare and properly display various food items for consumption. Students will compete in Culinary competition opportunities during the year. (Skills USA)
