Bellflower High/Middle School is located in Bellflower California and serves students from the cities of Bellflower and Lakewood. The school enrollment in 2004-2005 was 3,293 students distributed over six grade levels. The school is 52 years old. The facilities include 123 classrooms, a Little Theater, a cafeteria or multipurpose building, a library, a gymnasium and two locker rooms. Included within these facilities are seven computer labs for student use and computers in every classroom. A complete modernization of the six main classroom buildings and inclusion of campus-wide state-of-the-art communication technology was completed in 1996. The goal of Bellflower High/Middle School is to provide a quality education for all students. In doing so, we offer complete programs in English Language Development, Advanced Placement and Honors, and Vocational education courses, and ROP courses. The mission statement of Bellflower High School states: "The adult leadership of Bellflower High/Middle School will provide an environment for students that is safe, orderly, and conducive to purposefully engaged learning. Emphasis will be placed upon individual student needs to ensure participation in a balanced educational program. A strong instructional program will be evident through a competent staff that utilizes a variety of instructional strategies with emphasis on three kinds of learning: skills, knowledge, and values. Adult role models will demonstrate high, realistic expectations for all aspects of student learning. Students will demonstrate a positive self-concept through appropriate attitude, proper self direction, and responsible citizenship in a democratic society."
The Bellflower Unified School District is proud of the many existing partnerships between the schools and community organizations. In addition, parents at Bellflower High/Middle School are encouraged to be actively involved in the school program as volunteers or members of district and school committees, booster clubs, PTSA and the Bellflower High/Middle School Site Council. The School Site Council provides a significant opportunity for participation in decision-making regarding school policy, program, and expenditure of funds at the site level.
