Esther Lindstrom Elementary School first opened its doors to the students of Lakewood, California in 1957. Lindstrom is one of eleven elementary schools in the Bellflower Unified School District. It is located in the middle of a residential setting and contains all single-story buildings, an outside learning area and a large playground and grass area. There is a multimedia library, a computer lab with access to the internet, a multipurpose room (also serves as cafeteria), and an onsite before/after school childcare program (BASC).
Lindstrom Elementary School has been honored as both a California Distinguished School and National Blue Ribbon School.  We are proud of our accomplishments and strive to provide a quality education for all students.  Our vision statement reads:

Esther Lindstrom Elementary School staff, parents/guardians, students, and community collaborate to attain maximum academic excellence based on California content and performance standards.  We apply best practices to develop academic, social, physical, and emotional growth for all students.  We cultivate students who will develop positive self-esteem, as well as respect for others and their cultural differences.  Our school community seeks to create a caring, safe environment where every child is provided the opportunity to develop into a life-long learner who is cooperative, compassionate, confident, and productive.

Lindstrom serves approximately 900 students from kindergarten through sixth grade. The Lindstrom staff has successfully responded to the ever-changing needs of a student population that is becoming more ethnically, linguistically, and socioeconomically diverse. Transience is low, and a high percentage of students attend Lindstrom from kindergarten to sixth grade.

Lindstrom has forty regular education classes and two special day classes. Among our support staff, we have a resource specialist, and speech/language specialist. Lindstrom has fully implemented Class Size Reduction (CSR) in grades K-3. The school proudly has a full inclusion program with special needs students spending 100% of their day within the regular classroom.

We have many school traditions. A school pledge, "Every Student is a Star," is recited daily at our traditional morning flag ceremony where all classes unite to show respect and patriotism for our country. The PTA is an integral part of the Lindstrom family. They host Book Fairs, Family Nights, and Spring Carnival. Fridays are designated as School Spirit Days. On this day, students and all staff members wear Lindstrom Lion shirts and sing the school song. The Breakfast Club and Effort Club programs honor outstanding students on a quarterly basis. Lindstrom offers the facility for use to the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts. AYSO and Little League also use our fields on a regular basis. The Esther Lindstrom family strives to provide a safe environment, foster positive attitudes, encourage professional growth, and challenge all students to excel.
